you have to authorize ur computer. download itunes and open it. on the file menu, click store, and then click authorize computer. and then all of ur music will be transferred back to the vista computer. and then it should work the reason why your ipod restored itself was because if you switch between mac and pc it has to reformat the software. i suggest to just stick with one system; mac or pc
