If a fully charged rechargeable gadget is left in its charger, is this bad for the gadgets battery?

Answer:

Ordinarily the answer would be %26#39;no%26#39; because modern gadget chargers incorporate voltage sensing circuits which both ramp down the charge rate when close to full charge and then cut it off when full charge is achieved.

It would pay to be cautious however if you are using older technology or a non-proprietory charger for your device. It is still highly recommended for long battery life that you run your device%26#39;s battery flat perhaps a couple of times a month to ensure a longer battery life. This includes the so called %26#39;non-memory%26#39; batteries. no i dont believe it is. it just keeps it full i guess. It depends on the type of battery it has. Some batteries form memories after a long period of time, and this can hinder the amount of charge the battery can take. I have heard, for example, that laptop batteries will last longer if they are not plugged in all the time. Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries supposedly do not form memories as badly as Li-Ion ones, but for most gadgets out there Li-Ion is the only type of battery available.

Unless you leave your fully charged gadget plugged in every day this won%26#39;t be a problem, and most chargers do not allow overcharging. So, if this is not an everyday thing then I wouldn%26#39;t worry about it. in the short term--no;but in the longer term yes.but you might want to consider why you leave the gadget in its charger.do you leave it there because you forget to take it out ?or do you leave it there so you won%26#39;t misplace or lose it?it might be a matter of focus,of substiting a new habit for an old habit. good luck!
